ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

Cutting your springs would be incredibly stupid.

I hope you're on new shocks that are made to handle a drop.

well first things first you should properly inflate your tires. front one looks low on air.

second DO NOT EVER cut your springs!! very dangerous!!

if you want to lower your car then do it right. buy the correct shocks and springs. and a camber kits for all 4 corners.

just cutting your springs or even just using new aftermarket springs with stock shocks is a recipe for disaster.

New stock shocks are a bad choice. They aren't made for a drop. The very least you should get are Koni STR.T.

How long have you had that stuff on there? If it's fairly new, it will still settle some. Are they Neuspeed Sport or Neuspeed Race springs?

Going too low will thoroughly compromise the integrity of your shocks... making the ride uncomfortable, and a bit dangerous. Especially where you're from!

Koni (Neuspeed) Yellows with Ground Control Coilovers, and ingalls camber correction kits for the front and back will get you as low as you want to go properly and safely. Better start saving.

I agree. Too low just looks broken to me. When I see a slammed car, I expect to see a doofy looking kid with a sideways hat driving it. I don't take them seriously. Unless, of course, it's a show car... those can pull it off.

                    lol

Honestly man your front lip is already probably only like 4-6 inches off they ground. Your up in NY you sure you want to wind up tearing your front lip off and driving over it?

As far as cutting the springs question. It is NOT recomended for several reasons. It can however be done if you understand the consequences. First tings first is the actual fit of the spring on the strut. If say you have a spring that is the same width from top to bottom then it would be as easy as cutting off half a coil or maybe a full coil. If you have a spring that say has one very small coil where it mounts onto the strut and then widens out then it wont be possible at all.

If you can physically cut the spring and have it fit correctly this will in effect change the spring rate of the spring, making it stiffer. Some people try to overcome this by cutting the dead coils of the spring found at the top of the springs. Dead coils are the coils that just sit on top of each other. It actually works too.

If you dont already have the tools and the know how to cut the spring properly a shop might charge anywhere from say 30-100 bucks with the springs off the car. Might just want to buy new springs at that point being your trying to not use any money.

Now after all this talk of getting you lower and increasing the spring rate by cutting springs the main problem remains not only for cut springs, but any lowering springs in general. You need the right STRUTS to do the job.

Only thing that can handle anything at and over 1.5 drop is either konis or revalved bilsteins. Either of which is going to be alot of money when compared to springs. 500 or so.

So if you dont have enough money right now for new springs, you certainly wont have enough money for struts that can control these springs.

                    Suspension.....shes expensive to get right.

i live in southern cali and they have a law around here about how low you can go
i got pulled over the other day and the cop asked me how low my car was, i said i dont know
so they measured it and they said the headlights must be 24" from the ground, mine were 22" but he let me go for that because he gave me a tint ticket anyways
they said its a safety issue, i say its a bullshit law for them to make more money

That is BS. I feel bad for all the Cali people..emissions, tint and now 24" bullcrap?? I have never heard of such thing. I understand the safety issue on slammed cars, cause an EF hatch slammed is way lower than our CB's. Whats the next law....how many inches in diameter our Dookie pipe can be? I'd tell them to F off and go get it registered in Arizona.

What happens in CA usually happens in the rest of the country, where laws are concerned.

True, but in SC there is no inspections what so ever. NC..I just have a safety inspection and that goes for all OBD I cars in a populated area. If you have an OBD II car and live in a rural area, you don't have to pass emissions. Only cities and OBD II cars require the sniffer. Florida got rid of inspections if I'm correct, so they can have 2% window tint and open header...well maybe not open header, but other stuff that some states can't pass.
