ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    my vtec's not working?

so ive been messing around with my cb alot lately, and decided to delete my charcoal canister and black box, also blocked off my egr cause i was told u dont need it. anyways this is how i did it, if theres something that doesnt seem right and would make vtec not want to engage pleaz let me know.
For the charcoal canister i just took it out ran the line under the car to that other bigger hose that dumps out on the passenger side. and for the egr i cut up some pepsi cans perfect to the shape of the gasket and put them underneath it, to block it off. now all i have left is tha map sensor and i left the cvc white and green thingy cause it looked kinda important. so basicly thats all thats running to my throttle body right now. i thought this seemed right and the car runs ok, but just no vtec

o also what do i do with the connectors on the egr and the other one that was by the map sensor plug them back in or just leave them unplugged?

    any help much appreciated
    thanks guys

I feel really, really stupid asking you this question based on your name and described symptoms, but you do have an H22 in your car right? Like not the stock F22Ax engine?

The EGR might not be required to make the car run, but it's a good thing to have. Introducing exhaust gasses back into the intake (which is what the EGR does) will keep the combustion temperature down and reduces NOx emissions. It also leans out your air/fuel mix when you're at cruising speeds to boost fuel economy. It does a few other things too that make your car run better overall too, but whatever.

The charcoal canister filters the evaporating fuel from your fuel tank when the pressure gets too high and needs to release some of the gas vapor. The charcoal stores the raw hydrocarbons before the vapor gets released which prevents pollution. When your car is running, it will draw a negative pressure on the canister and draw out the hydrocarbons from the charcoal and burn it off when the car is running. This makes good use of your evaporated fuel and keeps the air clean.

So while neither is required, they are still good things to have. I'm not a tree hugger or anything, but I'm not into shooting myself in the foot either by putting toxins into the air I breathe and then wonder why I have cancer when I hit 40. Unless you've got a good reason, it's best to keep them on. Just letting you know so you can make an INFORMED decision...

Is your check engine light on? VTEC often won't engage if it is. Also, check your oil level. If oil pressure is low, it won't engage either.

I think the ECU might actually throw a code for the EGR being blocked off... not 100% positive, but it's something to look into.

Does the check engine light come on briefly when you start the car? All the dash lights should, just to show that they're functional.

If the oil isn't low, then the CEL should be going off for anything else that would cause VTEC not to work.

                      What ECU are you running?

Did you see my response to that comment? The same goes for you.

Help, or don't bother posting... you're wasting his time, MY time, and my bandwidth with worthless posts.

Theres actually two codes related to egr, when I deleted my egr I got a cel first time i started the car, but later on on got a jdm pt6 and now i dont have ANY cel. Im pretty sure jdm motors use egr so but im sure blocking off egr with a unmod usdm ecu will give cel, and as stated above vtech wont engage with cel

my dumbness deevergote, my cel does come on when i turn the key i didnt even think about that. so its def not burnt out. for the ecu thats not really something i know alot about, but i think its p28. reason being it has a sticker on it that says jk tuning, from previous owner. when i go to there site, only honda ecu's they have are chipped p28 and p06 for hondata or something. so from what accordmang said my car wouldnt throw a cel for egr if the ecu isnt stock. idk now im confused man.
i just wanna bang me some vtac!
