IAC issue

hey whats up cb lovers =] alright im geting another accord tommarow. i used to have a cb7 92 accord (crashed) but i freking love thies cars. tommarow im getting a 94 accord (cd5)standerd but only one issue the IAC is done. it revs up to about 3rpm and gose down constantly. i was told i need to replace it but the question is is there any way to disconnect it just so i can drive it down to my house the replace it. its my first stick and that problem is really annoying especialy down shifting. what would be the "quick fix" if u will.

i actually picked up my wagon this past sunday and it had the same issue...at idle it kept revving 1-2000 rpm,however while driving it was fine(i live in maryland and the wagon was at pa)today i actually fixed that problem by cleaning and readjusting the idle air control valve (iacv)...its going to bog especially when taking off i bet.but if you can take it home and start cleaning the iacv you should be fine..hope this helps..

but cleaning it would mean takeing it off with those 2 bolts in the back? how would i clean it no type of spray maybe like a aerosol air spray? thanks. i just dont want to mess it up cleaning see what im saying? its my first stick so i know ima be burnin that clutch lol u think by disconnecting it would damage the motor in anyway. only reason i ask is the car is in miami area and the heat is insanee! i kinda want to just get it and get out of there =p. but im going to clean it all up as soon as i get home

p.s its about a 20 mile drive if that makes any diffrence

i drove about 145 miles on sunday with the idle issue..and it didnt affect anything...since it was high way miles anyway,if you go thru stop and go traffic you may think your car is wasting lots of gas...theres 2 phillip screws on top of the iacv and theres like a yellowish looking plastic piece that you can unscrew with a flat head screw driver,theres going to be a spring valve under that so be careful it may jump off on you so you want to keep an eye on it to not lose it,you can use carburator cleaner or throttle body cleaner,i work for a cadillac dealership so i get the bg throttle body cleaner,it works just as good as any pepboy carburator cleaner brand..the price is just the diference..haha...

yeah 2 12mm bolts use carb/throttle body cleaner, the iacv raises your base idle to compensate for electric drag on the vehicle, if cleaning doesnt work and you do decide to remove it your gonna have to run your idle a few hundred rpm higher so i dont die when u stop with your ac or headlights on.

Your thinking of the fitv which is usually right next to if not connected to the iacv.The fitv is prob the true cuplrit for a jumpy idle but its worth it to clean both iacv and fitv.

thanks for the input guys but i went ahead and changed the iac sensor but thee problem still continues. i was just thinking. could it be the map sensor?? its right on top of the throttle body. when i disconnect it with the car or it regulates but then it dies. can that be the culprate???
