ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Car wont turn on till the third try..

sup guys, i have a little problem that's been bothering me lately. It just started to happen yesterday, I got out of work and went to the car to turn it on and it wouldn't turn on, until about the third try. Also this morning i went to autozone and after walking into my car, i turned it on the first try, but then the car turned off and I couldn't turn it on until the third try once again. The car is an auto, 122k, I just replaced spark plugs and wires with NGK brand about a week ago...ooo and one more thing, I have an auto start alarm. On Thursday, I tried turning the car on with the the remote start, it tried turning on but failed. Other than that, the car runs good and doesn't turn off. Any suggestions?

hmm, you don't think it can be the starter?

i would check the strength of the battery, tap the starter with a wrench, and if you notice it only does it when its hot then its prob main relay.

this is the clue it isn't likely the starter:

"i turned it on the first try, but then the car turned off and I couldn't turn it on until the third try once again"

car turns itself off. that's an electrical-related problem and the main relay is a prime culprit. that or, I believe, a faulty igniter or a faulty ignition switch.

              I'd suspect the relay first.

If it was a faulty igniter, then his car wouldnt start at all, do to lack of spark to the cylinders

I would check the main relay its really a visual inspection and cost you nothing,

Also starters and ignitors can be tested for free at most parts stores

When you put plugs on did u change the cap an rotor? Ive seen cars actually not start because of corrosion in the cap

If you want to fix the main relay (free), check out this topic, and the main topic that it points to, for pictures and instructions about how to perform the fix.

if you decide to replace either, then replace them both at the same time. pretty sure that is spec from honda.

also just for s&g why not have autozone or whatever parts store you have around check your battery/alternator/starter. you check check your ignitor and ignition coil yourself with a multimeter. the ignition switch could be the culprit too. that happened to me a while back.

My bad, i think you're right, it's probably not the igniter.

Just a bump to clarify the situation in case someone else encounters it.... I replaced the main relay at the time and it solved the problem.

                              Thanks guys!
