ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Code 43 CHK/ENG LIGHT

So I got a code 43, which is for Fuel Supply System, when I was doing about 70 on the highway.

My question is, what would be happening wrong to make my car throw a code? Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Fuel rail? Injectors? Fuel line?

Does it throw for a certain reason? like getting too much gas/or too little?

    How do I fix a code 43?

      O2 sensor, try that.

If not, clean out and replace your fuel supply system..

      Fuel filter, etc etc.

      and clean the EGR valve.

Most of the time, O2 sensor is really the issue, but if that fails, do the above or the link wed gave you.

When code 43 comes on at highway speed, the o2 sensor is almost guaranteed to be the culprit. Replace it with Denso or NTK. No Bosch... they don't work correctly.

This I wouldnt try to argue with, but deeve, he and I share almost identical problems, when going on the highway, thats the only time it comes on, or when on small roads for a longer period of time. Look at me Replaced it with a bosch, failed, denso, still got the CEL code after 2 replacements in less then 2 months.

I'd replace o2 and it wouldnt hurt to clean the parts you can to improve the engines performance.

But I have different symptons along with this code, not sure if the op has any?

deff. go with the o2 sensor, and get a fuel induction service done on it. i did one on mine along with the fuel filter, and o2 sensor and it made a world of difference. the price of the induction service is usually $70 depending on what shop you go to.

In my experiences, If you are having driveability issues along with the code 43 it is usually something other than just the O2 sensor. Yes replacing the O2 may work for a bit. However, if it is a fuel/spark/incomplete combustion issue, it won't take long for the O2 to get fouled or throw the code 43 again. Then your back where you started.

Test the O2 sensor, if it tests OK then start testing the Fuel Supply system.

First thing would be to get yourself a good shop manual. It's the best investment for anyone who want's to save money on shop/labour rates by doing it themselves.

That is true. A bad o2 alone CAN cause the error code, but a fuel issue can cause a fouled o2 sensor as well (vex, that's probably your issue...)

A new o2 sensor of a proper brand is never a bad investment anyway, even if it's not the absolute fix... though ghost is 100% correct... if it's really a fuel issue, the new sensor will be fouled.

hmm, this one is tricky. check out the online shop manuals, there is some trouble shooting if you really wanna bust out the multi meter. For me, a bottle of fuel system cleaner worked...I dunno if it was a coinky or what not. You could also try disconnecting your o2 sensor and reset the ecu and drive and see what pops up. I remember reading somewhere that this code was translated improperly and was supposed to be rich fuel (or lean?!)condition if I remember correctly.

you just cant R&R an o2 and expect it to fix the problem. 90% it will fix it however you need to check the signal and the o2's ability to go rich or 900mV. this can be done at WOT, propane enrichment or carb cleaner.
