Steering Wheel Replacement

Hi i wanna know if there is a DIY post of how to replace your steering wheel? im thinking of putting a RSX wheel

Yeah I had one on CD5 tuner

You need a large torques bit driver for the two screws that hold the air bag in place on each side. Might wanna disconnect the battery just in case before you unplug the bag connector.

After that theres one large nut holding the wheel to the steering column. Hold the wheel tight and carefully not to hurt yourself loosen that nut.

Thread that nut back on 4-5 threads so the wheel doesnt smack you in the face when removing it. You will have to use large bursts of strength and repeat until it pops off. You will have to fight with it for a while most likely. Some WD40 may help loosen it.
Try not to turn your clockspring. If you have to turn it to fit the RSX wheel, make sure it still points as upwards as possible!

There is some slight rewiring to do if you want the RSX cruise to work.

Ask Deeve if he will copy/paste my DIY lol. I doubt he will tho.

Here you have an S2K wheel on my CD5. Your install should be very similar. Look close and you can see the torques bit screws on the side where they hold the airbag in.




This is the cruise being re pinned. I cant remember what goes where :S

oh wait i have a 90 CB7 with no airbagss o.o anyway that if i switch the wheel i can get that airbag working?

If you get as far as the cruise wiring try googleing it because thats how I found it. I think it was on Honda Tech or something.

LOL you have NO airbags? Then no it wont work. Still looks pretty tho.

And RSX wheels are dual stage bags so even for me it would require modding.

yea >.< no airbags in that model. im screwed -_- lol eh the steering wheel will look pretty good tho just gotta be more careful with no airbags and all lol

Accords have airbag issues all the way up to the 6th gens. Famous for always having the SRS light on. My cars been in 2 collisions and the bags have never blown so I am never sure if they work anyways lol.

I think that Honda changed the spline count in 92 and newer hondas so a newer factory wheel won't work in a 90-91 accord. An aftermarket one with a hub adaptor will work.

Since he just ruined your party big time. May I suggest looking into what wheels WILL fit your car lol.

I know some older CRX and Civic SiR wheels where bagless. I bet they fit. They look oldschool but still smaller diameter and more sporty.
