ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Easiest method: open the gas cap. Second: loostening the banjo nut on the fuel rail or fuel filter.

You can also throw a shop rag over the banjo nut while you're loosening it so it doesn't spray in your face.

            yes yes yes!

the problem with the fuel filter replacement (I gather) is that you need new aluminum sealing washers for the fittings on the fuel filter AND on the banjo rail. I've heard that using copper here is a bad idea because it reacts with a component in gas and can cause problems in the injectors.

If you have a torch, you can anneal the existing washers off the car and reuse them. (heat them to around 600F, then let them cool slowly) and that will restore the workablility (remove the work hardening) of the washers.

The Honda OEM fuel filter comes with the sealing washers according to my local Honda dealership parts guys. .Aftermarket ones won't and at least on this they are right: the two aftermarket fuel filters I have don't have sealing washers included.

obviously have a fire extinguisher on hand when you are working on the fuel rail and fuel filter. Ideally, have another person who has a fire extinguisher at hand. At the minimum, have the fire extinguisher.

Also, have a big bowl of water and some soap close at hand so if you get doused with fuel you can wash it off immediately and avoid being a human torch-in-waiting.

I changed my fuel filter out 2 years ago and the one I bought at Kragen did have the washers with them.

                Thanks.

did you really just suggest putting a cutting torch on a fuel line? that must be the worst advice i have ever heard.

second do not reuse washers. they are very cheap and will probably leak if you reuse old ones.

if you buy a fuel filter and it does not come with new washers something is wrong. ask for another because someone probably just stole those out of the box.

the fuel pressure relief procedure is very clear in any service manual. if you dont have one go buy it. just in case you dont have one i will list the steps for you.

first take off the gas cap. second on the right side of the fuel rail( standing in front of the engine) there is a bolt and an odd little nut underneath that you can barely get a open end wrench on. put a rag or 2 under that part just rest them on the IM. hold that nut with an open end wrench and use a socket to undo the nut above it. some fuel will squirt out so barely loosen it until all the fuel spills out. then remove the nut and the washer underneath. your new fuel filter should come with a new washer for that bolt.

then after doing this your fuel pressure will be relieved. some fuel will probably still leak out when you remove the banjo bolt from the fuel filter. you do not need to remove the banjo bolt from the fuel rail just from the fuel filter. also that threaded nut on the fuel filter can be very tough to remove sometimes. you should be very careful while doing this because bloody knuckles can occur very easily.

seriously NEVER put a torch on your fuel line. you will probablyh kill yourself.

edit: wear safety glasses and gloves while you do this. the fuel will spray when you relieve the pressure. it will get on your hands if you dont have gloves on.

Theres a little nut on the right side of the fuel rail that you open up to release the pressure.

I never released fuel pressure when i did mine. I just took it off and that was it.
