ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Pretty absurd question. Regarding a Transmission for CB's

Would it be possible to put a ratchet shifter in our cars?

For those who have no clue what i'm talking about. Please refer to the video.

I know it sounds crazy. But I think it would be rather cool
You don't have to like what he did, but I would hope that you can appreciate the time, money and love that went in to the build. If you can't, you're not really an enthusiast, just another dumb kid with a car.-visualpoet

I have no idea, but you're right, that would be pretty cool.

It would require some modification to the transmission itself... essentially a rebuild... but I'm sure it can be done. I read something on a DSM forum about a Mirage that ran 9s for a whole season with a ratchet shifted automatic.

It really would be just for the sake of being unique, though. For our cars, a manual will always be better, unless you do EXTENSIVE work to the automatics.

Yeh well i was checking out sites that rebuilt automatics for racing. And I wondered how cool it would be to have it in a CB

I have put much thought into having an auto tranny built to make this truely functional. But i would hate to see the price for the tranny work. I bet it will be close to 10k

Oh, I'm sure. And then you'd need to build the engine to make enough power to make use of it!

That's one reason why FWD automatics aren't all that popular for performance. There isn't enough demand to make the performance parts plentiful and affordable, so doing it right won't be cheap. RWD cars, on the other hand, have TONS of options. A performance automatic RWD transmission (domestic, in particular) isn't much more expensive than a manual... and since many domestic manual transmissions are pretty sloppy compared to the accurate Honda boxes we're familiar with, the automatics are often the better choice for those.

you dont have to rebuild the trans, you can buy a ratchet shifter from summit or jegs , you need one for a 4 spd auto it comes with the cable . you just have to rig a bracket up at the trans to connect the cable and make it adjustable you can also buy the switches for neutral safty and reverse light...
