ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    HID conversion

i thought i remembered seeing a DIY on converting to HID bulbs. after multiple searches i cant find it though.

so my question is this: is there a DIY for this? if so can someone post the link?

if there is not a DIY can anyone help instruct me? is there a complete parts list?(i HATE going to the store in the middle of a project)

also how much will this cost total?

    i have a 91 cb7 lx 5MT if it matters.

    thanks in advance.

if your just talking about replacing stock 9006/5 bulbs with hid bulbs...
they make hid bulbs to fit into the stock housings. just buy the ones that fit the 9006/5. buy the plug and play, they are soo easy to put on. put hid bulbs into stock housings, plug the correct corresponding wires to the hid ballast and hid bulbs, last, plug stock harness into the mate on ballast. turn on and enjoy the glow. if you still need help or are a visual learner, i added a youtube link below.

i bought a cheap kit on ebay for like $50. its worked fine for me for the past year with no problems. all you really need it the kit itself(bulbs, wires, ballast)
    hope this helps

Please provide a cutoff pic showing you are not blinding folks though it looks like you just dropped those in. If that is what you did then get used to being informed of how to correctly do this and how you have done it wrong...it looks like you did it wrong.

You have put those into your low beams...with no projector...no shields...all wrong
For low beams YOU MUST RETROFIT!!!

You can either get the "NO CUTTING RETROFIT" kit, or you will have to cut into the housing and install the donor projectors into the stock housing. If you do not you are doing it wrong.

It is not just a reflection of your lack of ability, understanding, experience, and education, but it is dangerous and illegal. Now, you could argue that it could be illegal to do this mod even when done "properly" (I do not know that for a fact) but when you do it wrong you DRAW attention to yourself and as a result the rest of us.

So why do I care? (and get rather pissed at seeing people do this wrong?)
              1. because you blind the shit out of me when I am driving, VERY dangerous for oncoming traffic

I have been blinded MANY times because of morons doing this mod incorrectly...it is NOT a fun experience.

              2. One bad apple spoils the bunch, your bad job will eventually cause local pd to come down harder on modded cars.

Ok Ok! like i said i just put them in and i havent been driving this car because im waiting on parts to show up. so dont worry no one has been blinded. I didnt do any research on HID kits...and yes i just took out the 9006 bulbs and put the new ones in.
So school me because the two links that are up top are not telling me shit!
i do know that the housing has the the little cap over the bulb inside the light.
Boy if somebody fucks up on here theres no holding back! lol

                        1) As said above, a projector retrofit makes all the difference in the world. HIDs in our stock housing does nothing but scream "RICER!" to the rest of the world... and anyone blinded by your flood of unaimed light will be pissed. People doing this will eventually cause HIDs to be banned (and that law enforced), ruining it for those of us that actually did it right. Thanks guys!

                        2) If you get that kid, I STRONGLY suggest getting an auxiliary harness that draws power from your battery at startup, so you're not overloading your stock wiring. New kits supposedly don't draw as much as the old ones did, but personally, I wouldn't risk it. Replacing your stock wiring harness is expensive and difficult. Installing an auxiliary harness is $15, and takes no time at all.

hey thanks for the tip. do you have any links on what it looks like because i will probably make it... i have been in to imports since i started driving and tuning just as long and listen man and by no means, would I want to tarnish the rep of this web site nor the tuner rep. like said i will be hitting the junkyard this weekend to grab some projectors along with a new set of cb7 headlights because the glue that i use when i blacked them out could make it a little difficult to split them.

www.3bspecialties.com makes the harness for $15, and they're pretty well made. For that price, it's just easier to buy it than make it! I'm lazy, though...

Be sure you get proper HID projectors. Halogen projectors won't work properly, giving much the same effect as HIDs in the stock housings. I have Audi projectors in my car, and they're great. However, the best I've seen so far would be the TSX projectors in icedplaya123's car. They look amazing.

thanks for all your posts guys. when i do things i like to do them right the first time. i dont want to be the guy who is blinding every other driver on the road. i have run into those cars a lot and it gets very annoying.

i would like to do a retrofit. i was looking at ebay last night but could not find anything. just the same 5 kits posted 90000 times a piece. none of which say anything about retrofitting. idk if they would even work very well. i have heard most ebay parts suck.

sow3r -- thanks for posting those DIYs. much appreciated.

hmchaos -- thanks for posting the DIY. so you did one of those kits and it worked well?

bcjammers -- totally agree with you 100% bro. and i respect your opinion too. thanks a lot for posting.

deev -- as always thanks for the knowledge. i certainly respect your opinion very much as well. and certainly $15 is way cheaper and much less hassle than replacing your whole wiring harness. shit they are like over $200 right?

i guess i will look for a retro fit kit and see what i can find. if anyone knows where i can find one and posts a link i would greatly appreciate it.

                              thanks again everyone
