ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Electrical Issue

I had a problem with my car not starting. It didn't start about 1 out of every 18 times. I took it to the mechanic and when it finally didn't start for them, they thought it was the fuel pump. They replaced it and it still didn't fix the problem. Now they think it's the electrical that controls the fuel pump so they looked for about 4 hours trying to find an electrical problem and couldn't find one so they gave up. They think it might be under the dash but I had a remote unlock installed and all the wires are a mess so they didn't want to deal with it. I plan on taking the wireless remote out with all of its wires. Is there a harness under the dash that I could just go to the JY and pick a new one up or what? Thanks.

Have you pulled the main relay to see if some of the connections were cracked? Normally the car will start but once it gets hot it will have trouble with the MR being messed up. Pull the line off of the fuel rail and make sure you're getting gas. Along with that make sure you have spark at each cylinder. I'd no expert but i'd start there. You need four things, air, spark, fuel, and correct timing. After that i'm a bit lost lol. I hope you get it figured out though. when was your last tune-up? Check all of your fuses and relays if you haven't done so already too.

When it dosn want to start I take the engine is cranking over correct?

WHen you get the no start scenario is it after the car has been just driven or has been sitting in the hot sun?

Hondas are notorious for the fuel pump main relay failing. Its a 50 dollar part at the dealer and is located under the dash and I beleive on the cb7 its between the steering column and the driver side fuse box.

I'm gonna look for the relay under the dash today and see if that's cracked. But it does crank when it doesn't start

you will only see cracks on the solder points inside the relay.

if your mechanic diagnosed a faulty fuel pump, it mos likely will be the relay. All it does is turn the fuel pump on. which would mean your car would crank endlessly, but not start.

I pulled the main relay and I have two similar cracks to this picture.

When I called to the local autoshop they said there is 3 different main relay numbers is there a way to tell which one is needed?

The main relay we're talking about is directly underneath the dath on the left side of the steering wheel.

you can clean up the solder and resolder it. People have done it successfully. There are some howtos or threads about it on the site if you search.

I just went out and bought one today and so far it seemed to fix the problem hopefully.
