ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

91 Accord wont start? main relay?

My accord won't start if its hot in the car... basically when I get in it in the afternoon it'll pop over once and then shut off.. ill have to open up my doors and let it cool down for a few mins...main relay under the dash? Also, sometimes when I shut the car off when I stop somewhere and get back in ill try to start it back up it'll pop over once and shut off then ill have to unplug my tps and crank it over for around two minutes then it'll start back up...any ideas? Its getting embarrasing crankin my car over for a while while people are staring..

    Check:
    1. Main Relay
    2. Ignitor
    3. Ignition Coil
    4. S.Plug Wires
    5. Plugs
    6. Fuel Pump (with a working relay, you should hear a buzzing noise inside the car for a second when your about to start the car; no noise, fuel pump bad.)

...in that order. Mostly likely, your relay if its heat related.

The first three on that list are often heat related... but that's most certainly the order I would go in as well.

If you have a junkyard with lots of CB7s nearby, you could pick up most of those things free or cheap. They're not guaranteed to work, but it could help diagnose the problem if you pick up a few and mix and match until something works. It's better than buying a $60 part that may not be your solution. However, if you can afford new, by all means, get new. They're all wear items, and I'm sure all are overdue for replacement.

Alright thanks guys, I will have to take a junkyard run soon, I almost never hear the fuel pump kick on...don't honda fuel pumps rarely go bad?

The main relay controls the fuel pump. It's much more likely that your main relay is bad. The fuel pumps do go bad from time to time, but it's not very common yet. I'm sure half of the "bad" pumps that are replaced are really just misdiagnosed main relays! The main relay is a very common thing to go bad, especially in hot weather. The solder points get weak and don't conduct as they should, and the relay doesn't work. This can also be repaired, but you have to be skilled at soldering, and have good magnification (you usually can't see the cracks without)

You don't have to but a new one. Just resolder the joints.
Sig removed due to excessive size.

You might want to test to make sure it's the main relay that's causing the no-start, before you go attacking it with a soldering iron.

I'm just going to pull the relay off in a couple hours and see if the solder points are cracked first

It's unlikely that you'll be able to see cracks without magnification.

the main relay circuit board contracts and exspands in heat and can break its solder joints

or it could be a bad ground
