ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    cb7 automatic with turbo

so i do all my own work on my car, not sayin iam a master tec but i know some stuff, iam currently collecting parts to turbo my cb7 only problem is its an automatic.... a few questions one what problems will i have doing to build,
(noob question) is it better to turbo a manual vs auto, and lastly if worst comes to worst would it be better to go and buy a cb7 with manual tranny vs converting my cb7 into a manual. motor type f22a1, i make decent cash so buying parts isnt really an issue, just finding time to do everything my self i dont like ppl touchin my baby (cb7)

im guessing most ppl would side with turbo-ing a manual over an auto. Its just putting extra strain on the transmission and most likely ull have to run a tranny cooler, and low boost. As far as the swaps go, im not sure man maybe one of the others can help you out.
anyways good luck man! cant wait to see what comes of the build !

Honda used the PX4B transmission family in a lot of cars. I'm not an expert but I believe they use the same plates and should handle equal power…

According to http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=37839 the '92-96 JDM Prelude, a 200 HP car, used the MP1A transmission which Google indicates uses the same parts as ours.

Of course, autos like any transmissions wear out with shifting at WOT… matching revs is not an option… replacing worn clutches is far harder… and you will probably get funny looks from other tuners.

The automatic transmissions in our cars are often fairly worn out... most people do not maintain them properly (have you ever replaced your fluid? if so, did you use Honda fluid? It matters...)
Additionally, they are not designed to handle massive amounts of torque. The 200hp H22 doesn't make considerably more torque than the 125hp F22A1. Turbo makes LOTS of torque.

The primary reason people don't successfully boost automatics is that it's difficult to tune the ECU for it... and a proper ECU tune is absolutely necessary to keep your motor alive.

The only turbo automatic I know of on here is blazen_accord. He has blown a LOT of things up in his time...

Converting to manual would be best. It's easy enough to do. The only difficult part is welding on a manual transmission mount bracket, as the auto bracket is different. That can be avoided by buying a mount kit from www.explicitspeedperformance.net that is designed for that conversion. ESP makes fantastic products. When you convert, you can also upgrade the clutch, so it will handle the power.
