ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Recommended header(s)

What brand of headers do you recommend? My CB7 runs kind of hot ( I think due to the exhaust), but the entire exhaust system needs to be replaced because the idiot who owned it before just used the generic $5 patch kit from O'Reilly Auto Parts to patch up some leaks, and now it leaks all over the place. I figured since it's crap anyway, I might as well replace it. I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive ($300 or less) stainless steel mandrel-bent header that won't melt the engine bay of my car. CARB-legal doesn't matter because I live in Alabama and there aren't emissions tests. I also want it to sound deep, mellow, and controlled (no rasp) when combined with a 2.25" cat-back exhaust system and possibly a high-flow catalytic converter. It doesn't have to look pretty, either. I'm more of a performance guy. Visual doesn't bother me much.

megan racing headers are nice.. there "generic" brand but there one of the best "generic" brands they have a good name. i have been running mine for two years and no problems. you could look for used dc headers and such too
You don't have to like what he did, but I would hope that you can appreciate the time, money and love that went in to the build. If you can't, you're not really an enthusiast, just another dumb kid with a car.-visualpoet
Money and Knowledge are never in the same sentence, because people with Money think they know it all, but people with knowledge, know better.-ragingasian

I've read mixed reviews on Megan Racing headers on this website. Have your headers eaten any gaskets or anything, and how much difference in power is there?

I have had a Megan racing, dc sports, and a cheap eBay offbeand header. All have had about the same power increase. There is not a big hp gain but you will tell a difference on mid/top end power.

I ran an OBX header for years on my accord without any problems. Fit great and did not leak.

OBX and Megan are the top of the "knockoff" brands. DC Sports is the most common "real" brand, though the only difference is a slight increase in build quality, and CARB exemption (which doesn't matter to you, and is most likely the greatest part of the cost.)

If you actually want a power increase, Bisimoto is your only real option. You'll gain nearly 30hp from that header alone... but you'll be paying a good amount of money for it (and waiting for a bit to have it made, as each one is custom). It also looks amazing. Any other header will give no more than 5hp.

The cheap knockoff brands are your best bet if you only need a new manifold, and want something shiny under the hood. If you don't need a new manifold, don't care about looks, and don't really care about 3-5hp... don't waste your money. Stick to your stock manifold, and put your money into something you'll appreciate more.

I guess stock seems to be my best option, although, what if I went with the stock EX header like I've been reading about? Any performance gains there, and are there any differences between LX aftermarket headers and EX aftermarket headers?

Ive had a ebay cheapy for aout 3 years now, other then the fact that it blows gaskets every once and a while, it was worth it.I def feel a power increase in the upper rpm range, the stock f22a1 would fall on its face around 5500rpm, now it pulls all the way to the redline
                wat?

The only differences in aftermarket header design is the location of the o2 sensor bung. Many of the cheapies have two bungs, so they're universal (I believe Megan Racing is like that)

I'm a little disappointed in the rasp that my DC header makes. I'm hoping to eliminate that with an F22a4 header.

i have headman headers on mine with a 2.5 exhaust high flow cat, and magnaflow exhaust. (header back is magnaflow) a lil raspy because no resonator, but headman are good
