ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    cold air intake

If i put a cold air intake into my automatic would it be worth it or should i just keep my drop in k&n filter? Also if i get a cold air intake would the check engine light come on?

You'll get some minimal gains from a cold air intake, you shouldn't get a CEL from it. The autotragic tranny is your biggest drawback.

The problem is i cant find a tranny everytime i find one someone sells it before i go and get it; typical craigslist buisness haha. if u can help find tranny and stuff i would swap it in an instant.

Just put the drop in filter.

The CAI will only make more noise, giving you an illusion of going faster.

then you will have even less power from the hot air in the engine compartment and more noise.........

                false.. research son

short ram will give you the same gain as a cold air.. maybe alittle less.. its also louder. but if your going to put on a short ram just buy a cheap ebay one and than buy a good filter for on it

                Food for thought

When the motor is at high RPM's the motor need more velocity air, in which case when running a SRI it sucks up all the air from that the filter (which is really close to the TB) and get more air at higher RPM's.....I really can't explain it good but something like that tho.

But having a CAI does change the tone of the car when you hit torque (atleast thats what I heard when I ran my CAI). As for short ram, you get the chance to avoid the rain or water.
But when having cold air intake your risking of getting water in your filter (when it rains or there a puddle or somthing around)

But its up to you brotha, its your car your choice, I just gave you my thoughts and opinions....

Though you can also get an h23 intake manifold (if you have an f22a1 or a4) and remove the butterflies, and install it in your f22a, if you got and f22a6 you can just remove the f22a6 plenum and install an h23 plenum and remove the butterflies as well. You get more power of that to!

To be honest, it's hard to tell which one would make more power, because they make their power in different parts of the power band. .
some post out of an old discussion thread on CAI and SRI

Then make a custom hose going from your AC to your short ram. That way, when you need more powa, all you gotta do is turn on the AC!

you'll notice the same power gains no matter what transmission you have. its just that the auto gives up so much in terms of power transmission that it seems insignificant.

if you plan on swapping a 5spd there is no reason that you cant do other engine mods now. you will gain power, just not seemingly as much as when you have a 5spd.

I agree that the short ram creates equal amount of power as the full cai. In my opinion you do get that little bit of a better sound out of it as well. Stick with the eBay short ram and just buy you a good filter.
