ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Is my radiator seated too far back?

I dropped a screw into the space in front of my A/C condenser, and then noticed there are a lot of leaves and gunk between the condenser and the radiator, so I want to make some room to get in there and clean the area up.

That requires moving the fans out of the way. No big deal, right? But the bolt holding the fan to the radiator is sitting just behind the front crossmember. I can't seem to reach it without taking apart my chassis. That doesn't seem right.

And now I notice the wingnut for the bleeder screw is under the crossmember. Wouldn't that also make radiator removal hard? Is it supposed to be like that? It looks like the radiator is mounted too far back. As if it were pushed back by a front-end impact long ago.

Does this look right to you?

    #1 that pic sucks bro
#2 take the radiator mounts off the top
#3 now that ur radiator is free (somewhat) make sure the plastic guide pins (on the bottom) have the round rubber seats.
#4 the rubber seats have a round metal seat that they sit in.(they are part of the subframe

It was in some kind of front-end collision long ago. Not something that would definitely push the radiator back an inch, but I suppose it's possible.

The pic sucks, but it's the best I could do… it's centered on the radiator drain plug, and the point is that the plug is overlapping the crossmember so I can't lift the rad more than a few millimeters once the top mounts are off.

Also, that the bottom fan shroud bolt is inaccessible on the other side of the crossmember. Does that sound wrong to anyone who's taken out a fan?

You should be able to get at all the fan mounting bolts from underneath.

Just pull the whole radiator out with the fans on it.
The only extra work required is; draining the coolant and removing the top and bottom hose clamps.

The pic really sucks, but I can make out the drain plug being under the crossmember, there should be about a half inch gap between the cm and the drain plug. Have you ever gotten this vehicle aligned? If your serious about your cb7 you might want to pull the fenders one day and asses the sittuation

It's been a bit since I was in there, but if you can get a 10 mil wrench on the lower fan bolts you just need to loosen them a bit. The fans are slotted on the bottom and once the top bolts are out they will pull up. If you don't have room for that then you have frame damage more than a little bit.
