Famous Brake lamp light!

Well, it just turned on a couple days ago and wont turn off. Looked in the back, my 3rd brake light doesn't work. Replaced the bulb, what the heck.. doesn't work. Ive checked the most common things, all the other bulbs work fine. All fuses are fine as well. No corrosion in the connectors.

That happens to me every so once in awhile usually when its gettin time to change the breaks and I do some heavy breaking, typically after going from a high speed to a lower speed. If you have ABS does that light come on also?

No ABS, and just to clarify again, this is the brake LAMP light, not the ABS/brake pressure light.
Brakes were replaced earlier this summer, still looks brand new. No sponginess,

Ohh ok my bad, that's what I get for not payin closer attention sorry, yea mine does come on from time to time too but it usually goes away before to long. I suspect its a short some where in my case, maybe yours as well.

I thought that as well, but if it was a short, i would have burnt out my bulb when i plugged it in. i think it may be the main circuit box. Gonna have to check it out tomorrow.

also check the break switch.. it's right above the break pedal..

Would that switch actually affect JUST the 3rd brake light?

did u try to change the control moduels in the tail lights them selfs.if even 1 is bad that will throw the lamp light on.and also u have to put the same moduel in the same tail light.

since i bought my CB7, ive had the brake light on, but never really bothered me none, IMO i dont think its a big deal, now about your third brake light not working, thats an issue, but the light on the dash, i think isnt a real problrm, oh and my abs is actually on, any1 want to tell me why?? lol thanks

same case with mine when i bought the car last oct., got tired tracing the cause of making the brake light turn on in my dash

You have checked pretty well all the little things but have you checked if there comes power on the 3rd break lamp? Just a thought if the wire has broken.

have you checked to see it you have an open wire for the 3rd brake light

Its the box in your passenger side tail lamp. The 3rd brake lamp is wired to it. Replace the box with one from an accord at a junkyard.

I would know because I had the same problem at one time.

Ive been pulled over for not having my 3rd brake light. Ive told the officer I did not know what the issue was with it, Ive tried replacing the bulb, and looked at voltage levels (but i really didn't lol) and didn't see anything. Ive got a 30 day warning as of last week to get it fixed as its mandatory up here in Canada.

Gonna grab the rear tail light box over the weekend. I cant afford a ticket right now....
