ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I would install some sone ngk's bkr7e for your set-up and I would install them as soon as you get them. You might want to gap them a little lower than what is recommended because you're boosted

So...let me get this right. You're boosting your car, but you don't even know how to gap a spark plug? This is going to end well.

I think you need to do a little more research on turbo, spark plugs, and how they are related.

spark plugs are incredibly important to an engine, too cold of a spark and it wont ignite the mixture to hot and it could cause severe damage to your block (melt it into a puddle) also read up on the dwell time might need to change it also

What about E3's are they any good for a turbo set up? I've heard really good things about them from some muscle guys.

You don't need fancy plugs. They do nothing. NGKs made with the proper material, with the proper gap for the application... that's all anyone needs.

I was under the impression that with a turbo you needed different plugs from stock? Not true? Just magazine fiction?

when you added turbo you changed the pressure inside the cylinder so you would need a hotter spark to make up for the higher compression so yeah you do need to change them but doesn't really matter if they are e3 or whatever as deev said its just a different material which it is made from, what you need to check on the spark plug is the parks intensity, and its ability to dissipate heat

Yes, you need plugs with a different gap, and quite possibly a different material (such as platinum or irridium). However, you do NOT need to get these fancy "performance" plugs that make all sorts of horsepower promises.

As I said to the OP... perhaps you should learn what is actually involved in making a turbo system function correctly and reliably, rather than relying on the words of other amateurs, or magazine claims.

Actually, forced induction generally needs a colder plug.

The hot/cold rating on a spark plug has nothing to do with how hot the spark is. It has everything to do with how large the ground strap/exposed spark plug is. Hotter plug will be smaller, so the body of the plug gets hotter to burn off deposits. Colder plug will be larger as to absorb more heat before getting hot. Too hot of a plug in a turbo motor will cause a hot spot and the potential for pre-ignition or detonation. Too cold of a plug will foul up over time, since it doesn't get hot enough to burn off deposits.
