ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I just replaced the r&p in my car about two months ago. Its pretty straight forward. All you need is a GOOD set of 1/2" drive metric sockets and matching wrenches. Jack up the car, remove the wheels and tie-rods (I went ahead and replaced the tie rods with new ones since it was all taken apart anyway)

The hardest part I had was getting the bolts loose on the front end of the cat. I managed to borrow a torch and heat up the bolts and the broke them loose. You cannot skip this step, there is no way to get the rack out without dropping the exhaust.

After the exhaust is out of the way, remove the steering gear cover, disconnect the p/s lines, then drop it down (carefully because its quite heavy and awkward).

When everything is back together, take it to your local alignment shop

definitely need 12, 14 and 17mm flare nut wrenches (the kind used for brake lines) to get the P/S lines undone from the rack. I did mine in February and it took me about 5-6 hours jacking my car up on jackstands, taking the downpipe off and draining/filling fluid.

The DIY on here is REALLY helpful, thats what i used and it made it cake.

i having trouble taking out one of these bolts off

because it has a nut on the other side like this.

its impossible to fit any wrench in the tiny hole where the nut is to stop it
            from spinning with the bolt

in regards to the bolt and nut, depending on the opening, (i am asuming you cant fit a socket around the nut) take a large number 3 flat head screw driver and jam that sucker down the opening along a flat side of the nut to jam it up from spinning when your turning the bolt. i would suggest using a impact on the bolt, as it will break it free faster and give it less chance of the nut turning with the screw driver in it. just a suggestion....

i did something similar. i stuck a thick screw in the opening and caught the nut and stopped it from moving so i was able to take out the bolt. apparently the nut was suppose to be welded on there but i guess it broke off when i was trying to take out the bolt. bad design

                thanks
