ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    starts but wont stay running?

Hi again.. lol Umm.. k. i go to start my car, and it cranks for awhile. if you hold it and it starts, it'll rev up past 2 (like normal when u start it), but when it comes back down it keeps going past 1 until it shuts itself off. Also, a few days before it stopped workin, i was sitting at a light and my idle dropped to right above stall out and my battery light flashed. It did it twice, then will idle like normal. Drove normal too.
    Recent work:
    Replaced thermostat (late may)
complete tune up (wires, plugs, cap, n somethin else..) (feb)
new front end (accident n fixed it) (jan)

My dad thinks fuel problem, but he's in Cincy n im in Columbus so he cant really help.. Any ideas?

92' Ex - Needs work, but hey! It runs safely

You could have a failing alternator. Take it to your local AutoZone if you have one and they can test it for free.

I doubt that its the alternator.

I think the battery light indicator flashed due to the dying engine giving fluctuating readings in the voltage regulator.

If its the alternator the battery would flicker and start to glow without affecting the running of the car.

In my opinion its either the ignitor or the coil but 90% the ignitor.

If the car is dying after being warmed up, then im saying igniter also. You should be throwing a CEL.

ignitor and/or coil. Gettin a oil pressure light too? Very unlikely alternator. Reason it starts but dies is cuz the soldering in the ignitor/coil is faulty. with heat, the solder weakens and eventually fails. letting is sit lets the solder cool back down (and even harden back up) and that's why you're able to start it. Might not be the coil too because you didn't say anything about the car jerking and that's what happened to mine, but check it too. Don't worry my dad thought it was fuel too, but the pumps on these things rarely go out and even if it did, you wouldn't be able so start it and that wouldn't explain it dying once it got warmed up. I took it to a dealer, so I didn't personally troubleshoot it, but here's a DIY:

          and procedure:

Only use the above procedures if you don't have a haynes/chiltons repair manual as I have not checked to see if they are correct.

it might be the rotor in the cap that isn't positioned correctly that'll cause those kinda of problems
