    slim fan radiator

i installed a new radiator with a new slim fan
the fan had a blue and black wire so i assumed the blue was positive but i tested it on my old battery and it confirmed my assumption
i cut the pigtails off the old fan and soldered black to black and the blue to red.
I've been driving with this new radiator for over a month but i have not once heard the fan turn on.
I'm not sure if it because the car runs cooler or what?
I've noticed the temp gauge sits slight lower than it did prior.
The thermostat is good, i just replaced it.
could anyone help me figure out why its not working?

your fans turn on by the temp switch
once the car gets to certain temp the coolant switch will complete the circuit
and will turn the fan off until the water temp goes down

get a piece of wire, disconnect the connector and jump it

    the fans should turn on

if not check cooling fans fuse and relay

Question for you, how much were your slim fan?

I always wanted one, I seen slim oem fans at the yard, would want to convert to one of them, I understand some slim fans are a lil pricey.

        Is your oem or aftermarket?

I installed an aluminum Koyo radiator in my cb and the fan doesn't turn on very often because it has a larger capacity and is much more efficient. If your new radiator is more efficient than the last one then your fan won't turn on as much as it used to. However, for peace of mind just jump the wires coming out of the temp switch by the tstat and see if the fan comes on. At least then you know it's wired properly. Also, check to make sure that it's pulling air through the radiator fins while your at it (unless you mounted it on the front in which case it would be pushing air through). At any rate the air should be blowing towards the motor. If not, just simply switch your fan wires around.

Unplug it and take something like a paperclip and connect the terminals to each other on the harness side.

So how much can a good radiator cost? Cause I'm interested in a new one.. Mine is spitting some kinda slide into my reserve bottle .. Don't like seeing discoloured anti freeze

So I was thinking what would Jesus drive?

In my CE1 I installed a Mishimoto dual core aluminum radiator, got slim fans as well, and my car runs at the correct temperature. If your fans don't kick on, check your temp sensor. Your thermostat is what regulates the coolant temperature. I have two 12" slim fans and mine still kick on like they are supposed to.

But then again, if your outside temp is low enough, it may keep the coolant cool enough to not trip the temp sensor? I guess thats always a possibility?

well when i replaced the radiator i also deleted my a/c because it hasnt been functional for the past few years. removing the condenser for the ac and having a radiator half the size of stock i basically have a straight opening to my headers from outside hence why i think it runs so well and cool...

                              a pic for refrence

that is the gap I'm speaking of.
on top of that i have hood props so the back end (by the hinges) of my hood sits higher
