ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    vtec head on f22A1 block

Alriight heres my problem i bought a F22B1 and installed it wired the vtec to the computer and the engine i got was messed up i think a bad rod or something..... so i used my non vtec block and swapped the head and everything fit fine but now engine feels like it has no power and vtec is not working. I will be checking the vtec selenoid tomarrow to see if its dirty but i have no idea whats happening.

so with that said has anyone ever done this and if so how did it work out?

The F22B1 is a serious downgrade from the F22A. Even when it works correctly.

Check your oil pressure and level. If your check engine light is on, find out why. Be sure all your VTEC wiring is correct. Most likely, losing power at 4000 is a result of that shitty VTEC system not working.

            The B1 makes 145hp. The B2 makes 130.

The ports are extremely restrictive, the valve angle sucks, and the B1's VTEC system (which works on the intake side only) adds significant valvetrain mass.

So no, they are not better than the F22A. Your "boy" either has a healthier engine than you do, or you can't drive for shit. "jus so u knoe"

              Well said deev!

And yeah, the VTEC on the B1 and B2 are for shit. Really it's closer in relation to the less often seen e-vtec that came in certain civic (hx?) models a while back. It did the same thing regualr vtec does, just at lower RPM and only to conserve feul, not add horsepower. Just because it says vtec doesn't make it good.

              ***EDIT***

Apparently the B2 has no VTEC. News to me.

                The B2 doesn't have VTEC.

As for doing the "same thing"... no the F22B1's VTEC is considerably different from the VTEC systems in the H and B series engines.

its the same as the k20 on the ep3 they re shit
dont compare them to the regular k20 cuz they suck
both motors use vtec on one cam, so comparing them is worthless

to the op, whenever your swapping to non- vtec block to a vtec head
make sure you remove the oil jet from the oil feed in the block
it restricts oil pressure 30psi because non vtec heads dont need as much

make sure you get rid of all you CEL lights and check your physical timing
its really easy to be a degree off when swapping b1 head

overall, it will be slower then the stock a1/4/6 whatever you had. and it will not make as much power. I speak from experience.
