ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

CAR IS DEAD. in need of help!

I was driving and my car sputtered out. So i put it in neutral and pulled over. the check oil light came on (To the immediate right of the battery light) after getting home from a tow, i checked my oil and it was below the lower hole on the dip stick. When i try and start the car it doesnt sound normal. it sounds week and like the only thing turning is the starter and fly wheel. My accessory belts are turning slowly as i try to start. So i pulled off the valve cover to see if the cam is even turning, its not!

I think it might be a timing belt issue.

Fule pump is fine, distributor is new, starter is new, plugs and wires are new.

ANy help on what the problem maybe will greatly help me. I need to get this CB fixed! im getting sad with out it.... and work is a bitch to get to now.

I think you diagnosed correct. If engine sounds like it spins with no resistance and no camshaft movement when cranking. Seems like a classical snapped timing belt and you smacked valves into pistons created losing cylinder compression.

You'll need a reconditioned cylinder head and full timing belt job, obviously done by someone that can do it properly.

However, it does not help you also ran the engine low on oil. That alone can cause other problems and may render your engine worthless to the point of needing an engine swap. You should investigate this concern first, as wasting money on head reconditioning and Tbelt would be pointless.

Both these issues point towards lack of maintenance. If you ever heard of Jeff Foxworthy, this would be your "sign".

I do a great deal of maintenance and preventative maintenance. i checked the oil last week and it was doing good. also i checked the timing belt a month ago and it looked great. But looks can always bee deceiving. ill look into it. Maybe now is the time for my h swap ^^

thanks for the words of assurance

yeah it sounds like you broke the timing belt.
take off your timing belt cover and look.
i had a case with my old f22 the camshaft seal went bad and oil leaked into the timing belt.
i was driving and pretty much the same thing happend to me.
but i got lucky cuz when the oil got on the timing belt it didnt totally break just the teeth got stretched out and ripped off leaving the timing untouched.
all i did was replace the timing belt and replace all the springs then retimed the engine and i was good to go.
def check your timing belt cover and look for oil you might of gotten lucky.
if the timing belt is broke i would just get a new engine.
you'll spend too much time and money getting your old engine checked and rebuilt. but think positive bro this just means you have a awesome excuse to get a H22

If just the timing belt is broke then why would i get a new engine?

dude i dont mind spending 30 for a new belt, but 3 k for a new engine is steep.

well I believe the f22 is a interference engine which means when your timing belt breaks the pistons hit the head.
you could just buy a new head and replace your pistons but you have to get it checked out and replace the headgasket.
your engine prolly has high mileage.
if you check around you prolly could get a h22 for around $1000
