ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

if you still have an R12 system, then you won't be able to do it yourself.

If your car has been retrofitted to R-134A then it's cake.

If you have the R-134A system you can go to advanced and the the can and recharge it yourself..your basically re-filling your ac with the freon it needs...but they outlaawed the use of the R-12 stuff due to the global warming panic...lol..If you have the R-12 system you have to take it somewhere yo get it re-charged

You can recharge an r12 system yourself if you know what your doing.

You just cant buy r12 cans in stores. You can still buy r12 its just very expensive.

Best bet is to take it somewhere and have it changed over anyway. It'll cost you to do so, but itll be cheaper to recharge in the future.

charging a a/c system is not something as simple as
            "connect hose"
            "turn can upside down"
There is much more to it...you have to have the proper tools (gauges) and the know how to read them.

If you are low on freon it is BECAUSE OF A LEAK...so pushing more freon won't work...that is all those wal mart, auto store, kits do, is push a little more in.

You need to remove the refrigerant, pull a vacuum, check for leaks, recharge.
            You need the proper equipment.

I just shake my head every time I pass those r-134 "kits" at wal mart. You have to have the proper set up.

You CAN just push more freon in ONLY so long as the pressure has not equalized with atmospheric pressure...if THAT has happened you will need to also begin replacing a/c components, fix the leak, then pulling vacuum and recharge.

If there isnt a sticker on your car telling you its converted then there isnt really a way to know. Well if you have a schrader valve over top of the OEM valve your system MIGHT have been converted.

You NEVER need to recharge your a/c system unless it develops a leak.

The a/c in my 91 integra in my signature has NEVER been recharged. Its still on r12. It just never leaked out.
