ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

struts and shocks are basically 2 different designs for suspension dampers.

A strut sits inside a spring like our hondas. A shock sits seperate from a spring like in a truck or cars with rear leaf springs.

...The question you have to ask yourself, is what is your budget and what is your definition of a nice ride.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

..are you going to be buying struts or just springs....

the eibach drop is nice especially the one your saying but I thought they were 1.8'' drop (eibach sportlines).

I run the eibach prokit, 1.2'' drop and is probably nothing compared to what you would like. Though the accord is my commuter and my 300zx is my sports car =)

if u get lowering springs ur gonna have to buy new shocks
          trust me i know
if the stock shocks are still on ur ride then they will blow out and ur handling will suck
coilovers would be the best bet but dat might not be within ur budget
u can probably get springs and shocks for around 300 but it wont be anything fancy

Technically, struts have some bearing on alignment. They're more than just shock absorbers. USUSALLY, struts located inside a spring (such as a MacPherson design), are this way. Ours do not have any bearing on alignment whatsoever. They ONLY absorb shock. Shocks, as menitioned above, are often located outside the spring, and only absorb shock.

So technically, you can call ours either. www.hondaautomotiveparts.com lists them as "Shock absorber".

There is no option for "shocks" or "struts"... there is only one design that you can get for our cars. That's like asking "what's better, wheels or rims?"

He's not asking what brand to buy... he's asking a question that shows absolute ignorance regarding our suspension system.

You, on the other hand, are merely whoring your way to 30. Thanks for bringing that to my attention... we'll see how many of your 29 posts are like this.

And for the record, KYB AGX are not comparable to Koni Yellows in the least. One is an adjustable stock replacement, the other is high performance.

Konis are superior in every way. However, if you're not going lower than 1.5", and the spring rate is not extremely stiff, then the AGXs are decent.

However, even most "sport" springs will drop you 1.8".

Unless you're asking about shocks or struts... and in that case, there is no option of shocks or struts. As far as our cars are concerned, the terms are used interchangeably. They mean the same thing.

I'd do the AGX. However , STRT will work great.

You're right , I just found out their prices are higher than the last time I checked (2 years ago). ooops.

Like I said STRT's are fine. They're valved for a decent drop.

AGX aren't made for a stiff spring or a low drop. STR-T are actually much better suited for that.

Really, the best possible options for the CB7 are Koni STR-T or Yellows. The STR-T is priced competitively with other shocks that can't even compare in terms of performance, and the Yellows are by far the best affordable shock for performance and adjustability. Anything better would be far more expensive, and far more than anyone would need on a street car (Penske, Ohlins, custom valved Bilstein...)
