So, I was going down the highway today doing about 60, when my oil seal blew. I have an f22b2 swap (not my call. It was done by a previous owner), and was wondering if that may have anything to do with it, as it was not swapped properly. Any help would be great.

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

91 Accord LX blown oil seal

Kind of vague......you think the previous owner didn't swap it in properly causing the seal to blow? Also which seal? I'm gonna take a wild guess and say balanceshaft seal as that's about the only one I've seen blow out.
If it is the balanceshaft seal, and it didn't have a seal retainer, it was just old. They tend to pop out over time. Honda started using a retainer if it was brought into a dealer for a timing belt change as it was becoming a problem as the cars got older. You can get them for $5 or something from Honda.

The balance shaft seal and the rear main seal are the two that can "blow", causing pretty catastrophic failure. If you didn't stop the engine right away when it happened, irreversible damage may have been done.
Aside from the previous owner's failure to replace (or at least properly replace) these seals at the time of the swap, there's really little chance that he would be at fault for the failure. There's not much you can do when swapping an engine to compromise a seal like that.
They just get old. The F22B2 was used in 5th gen Accords from 94-97, so you're looking at 13 year old seals at least. They can fail over time. They WILL fail over time.

Thanks Fellas. What happened was, it started spraying oil out of the back of the engine (towards the firewall) When I came up to a stop light. I, unfortunately, had to tow it home just now. Rather depressing, to be honest. >.< One of my buddies had the exact same thing happen to his CB7, and it cost him a grand to fix, so I'm not entirely sure EXACTLY what happened. He just said it was an oil seal.

See if you can figure out the exact location of the seal. You can find some pretty good parts diagrams with part names on www.hondaautomotiveparts.com.
It won't be very expensive to fix if you killed the engine before it ran dry. If it's just a matter of replacing whatever seal failed, it'll be something you can do yourself. If it requires a full rebuild... just yank that crap engine and replace it with something better (F22A, H22A, etc...)

The transmisson is covering the rear main seal. If that went, your oil would be coming from where the transmission housing and the block meet.
If you ran it dry, don't even bother replacing the seal. Just replace the engine. You'll put a lot of work in for nothing if the internals have been damaged.
