ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    a/c problem

My a/c has been working fine I had it on this morning with no problems. My cooling fan wasn't working so i tracked that down to a fuse. changed the fuse now the a/c isn't working. the a/c light doesn't come on and the clutch isn't engaging, the a/c clutch fuse is good also. What else can i check or do?? thanks

Was it exactly same amp fuse that you replaced on a/c and cooling fan? If it stopped working when you changed the fuse for cooling fan you could test the a/c fuse with voltmeter. Usually you can see that fuse is bad but i've seen that broken fuse can sometimes look just like new one. So if you don't have voltmeter then you could try another fuse.

I know this is something simple that i'm overlooking

      - put in 20 amp fuse for engine cooling fan
      - swapped and checked 7.5 amp fuses for a/c clutch
      - swapped and checked two relays behind left front headlight
      - checked power coming in to relay
      - checked continuity of wire going from relay to clutch
      - hooked 12v directly to clutch and it clicks on
      - interior a/c light also doesn't come on now either
      - also have power going to the 7.5 amp fuse under the dash

The a/c was blowing cold 5 minutes before i put that 20 amp fuse in for the engine fan. thanks for the help

It seems to be a fuse problem cause the light should come on even if the a/c isn't work or the coolant is low. I would check the from the main fusebox these things: heater blower relay 30Amp, AC condenser blower motor relay 15Amp, engine coolant blower motor relay 15amp. Those are amps that i have. Then you could check from inside fusebox these: engine coolant blower motor timer relay 15Amp, AC master switch 7,5amps, AC-heater airmix flap motor 7,5amp. Check those and let me know if still not progress.

Oh yeah, does your heater blower work now?

not sure if you've done this but maybe reset the system by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes... just a suggestion.

If your fuses are ok then i can't figure out anything else than the blower unit itself. At least thats what i would check it out but there could be a lot of other reasons. I would have bet that's a fuse. Might be a dumb question but did you have the car running while changing the fuse? And i would still recheck ALL (not just the ones i mentioned) the fuses cause it has happened to me that i've missed one or it has been a fuse that doesn't directly affect on a/c. Sounds like repeating but sometimes it helps.

I tore the dash apart and jumped the a/c switch out and the light and the condensor fan came on so I think that might be my problem. Any idea where I could pick one of those up at? thanks

So it was the blower unit, right? Well you can get one from ebay for example. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1990-...Q5fAccessories

Also you can check the blower unit if there is someway to fix it. Could also be that the circuit has damaged so there's noway to repair it. Would buy one from ebay, they don't tend to cost much. Of course you can buy new one but it'll cost a lot more and don't see reasons why not buy a used one if in good condition. Hope that it'll work.

I wasn't thinking of that as the blower unit but yea i believe that's what is bad. it would be nice if i could just solder in a toggle switch just to jump that one circuit out. just don't know if the switch would handle the current. thanks a lot for your help and the ebay link.
