ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    need a smoother ride

Wdup CB7TUNER world! Alright I've searched throughout the whole thread, either it is because I am half asleep or I'm just not typing in the keywords correctly. I have a 93 CB7 H22a swap.

My question is, how can I make the motor have a better throttle response? cams? I/H/E? Advanced timing?

Recently I noticed my H22a was losing performance. Is there an exact marking of how to advance the timing? or should I just go with new cams, pistons, and a great exhaust setup for good flow?

Are there cheaper alternatives? I've read up on reasons of why my h22a may be heating up really fast. Not FAST FAST, but after about 40 mile drive on streets. The temperature will go up, fans kick on, go back down. And obviously when temp goes up, my car takes a SH*T and loses its performance.

So any suggestions from you guys? ANYTHING to help my CB7 run better and be quicker than the average cars out there on the streets. It WOULD be nice to be faster than the newer cars, but REAL talk here. I'm going to get another car, possibly Infiniti FX35. I want to make this thing run as a daily driver/second car/weekend car. Type of deal.

Don't concern yourself with modifying your engine if it's not running correctly. Fix any issues it has first. If there's something wrong that's causing it to overheat and "lose performance", any modifications you do will only accelerate the damage.

Identify and fix the problems it has first.

Thank you for the response! Yeah just thought after I fixed all the issues, just in case there were still problems. I could move onto different alternatives. I'm going to check the forum or google to see if those mini air breathers for the top end is worth it or not.

well the top breather has 2 functions...it eliminates the tubing from the intake to the valve cover, and it increases the breathing action. I'm not sure its exact purpose tho. anyone know???

I may be wrong but I think the breather circulates gases from the valvecover area and put it back in the intake to be burned off.

The first thing I'd check is the coolant level and then the thermostat. It may not be opening all the way causing the slight overheating. Also check for dirty rad fins on the outside or debris clogging up the passage way on the inside. All these would cause the heat to dissipate slower until the fan kicks on. Although somewhat rare, it may also be corroded fins on the water pump but I rarely see that.

After the overheat issue is resolved, I'd move on to the regular tune up type stuff. Cap, rotor, plugs, check timing, fuel filter, etc. If it's never been changed, I'd also test the O2 sensor.

After the car is running well in stock form, then you can move on to the bolt ons and stuff.

The hose that use to be there is the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) hose. It is to vent out the blow by gases, you absolutely need some kind of ventilation do not plug it.
