ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Not starting

Alright this dosent apply to my car but a 1991 ex sedan i found on craigslist for $500

I checked out the car today and its pretty nice actually but...

When you get in and turn the key nothing happens. All the lights go out ( like they normally do ) but the starter dosent turn over. It acts exactly like im not pushing in the clutch.

The guy says one day he brought it home and it just didnt start up. Then a few weeks later it started right up and was perfectly fine. Then a few days later it wouldnt start again.

The car is a 5 speed by the way.

It was really new. June 2009. Nearly a year old but pretty new. I tested out all the elctronics in the car and they worked pretty good. The car didnt struggle to operate anything.

PS: Why did you change your name?

Check the clutch switch and starter.
Also check if the starter solenoid is getting its 12V feed when in the start position.

A "Finished" project car is never finished until its been sold.

If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.

im gonna go with red on this. Try tapping the starter or just bringin another one to test it with. Had this issue on a integra. Sometimes if you knock it around a bit, it will fire up.

Does it click, and lose all electrical power? Or do you just turn the key, and everything else is normal, aside from nothing happening with the starter?

even a faulty starter will click or make some sort of noise. (same with a low battery)

if the entire car is silent, id lean towards a park neutral, clutch switch, ignition switch or starter solenoid.

Do you know when you try to start a manual without the clutch pushed in? Or an automatic when its in anything but P or N? it acts like that. Everything is normal but there is no starter activity.

Im going to try what red said. I have seen that first hand actually on a 99 accord 5 speed with an f23a1. When you hit the starter with the key held down you could hear it grind around in there.
