Whatever he's doing with his cars, I'm sure it's doing damage. They won't last long.
I'm assuming he comes from the old school. People used to do it that way years ago... but there was a reason why boosting cars that were NA from the factory wasn't all that popular. It was difficult and unreliable.
Your car is probably running like crap due to too much fuel. His are probably running lean, which will be great... until it blows.
Also, the stock ECU with all the sensors working properly really doesn't know what to do with boost.
The P28 is a Civic ECU, so it must be modified to use it, obviously. Accord/Prelude ECUs are not easily modified for tuning, which is the reason why we use Civic and Integra ECUs. They're easy to modify, and well supported for tuning.
