ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    F22a6/a1 combine?

I've got a F22a6 in my '91 EX accord... and I've got the old engine, an f22a1, that I've been hanging on to for a while. Before I get rid of the old engine, would there be any way that I could combine the engines parts for better performance? I think the header on the old engine is bad but seeing as its out of the car, I don't have a way to test it. The old engine burnt oil pretty bad, so I'm 75% sure that the rings on the old engine are also toast.

Are there any suggestions on what I can salvage/grab given this information?

I would send the head to a machine shop and have some port work done to it. Then put the a6 cam in it and put it on.

The 91 EX should have had an F22A4 originally. The F22A1 is the DX/LX engine, and the F22A6 is the SE or 92-93 EX engine.

The F22A6 is essentially the same as the F22A1, with superior parts bolted to it. There is nothing from an F22A1 that would benefit the F22A6. Minus the added parts, the engines are identical... so if you wanted to build that F22A1 while you drove with the F22A6, that would be a good idea.

yeah, I got another look at the old engine... and it turns out you were right deev, the old one is an A4... the engine's been covered all winter, so I havn't had a good look at it since it came out of the car.

so, in light of my memory error... would there be anything I could pull from the a4 then?

The header of the a4 is made of tubular steel, which is supposedly better than the a6's cast header. Thats about it.

The A6's manifold is about as free flowing as the A4... it's just an ugly cast manifold. If there are gains with the A4 manifold, they are minimal. The only real gains to be had are over the A1 manifold.

but the a4 manifold looks so much nicer and if he has it sitting there its free to him ... i would definatelly swap... but thats just the little bit of ricer in me saying this ...

In Need of an engine, just a basic f22a...pm me if you have one willing to part with.
