Hello fellow CB7 tuners. I think I have a real problem. I was driving today and I think the clutch is on it's way out. It still grabs (barely). But there is this grinding/banging noise coming from the area and if I take my foot off the gas it dies. Any clue before I drop the transmission and check it out?

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

A clutch should last longer than 50,000 miles unless you're making quite a bit of power...
The odd noises may be a sign of your throwout bearing seizing. Especially if it dies if you take your foot off the gas. A fried throwout bearing will cause just about everything around it to be ruined as well (I just had that happen to me.) ALWAYS use an OEM Honda throwout bearing. I've heard that for years, and ignored it... and paid the price. I compared my new Honda unit to a new aftermarket one, and the quality difference is noticeable.

Thanks man. I am in the process off replacing the clutch now. The new kit comes with a new throwout bearing, clutch disk, and pressure plate. It was a pain trying to find a place that would machine my aftermarket 12lb flywheel. Not a lot of places in El Paso that have to machine. But for the most part everything is back on. Just have to put the axles back on and test drive it. Wish me luck.

Depends on what you consider aftermarket. The kit I had on there before was an xtd stage 3 complete kit. Came with the 12lb flywheel, stage 3 clutch, and an OE (japan) throwout bearing. This one was also a complete kit (minus the flywheel). I bought it at Auto Zone. Not the greatest but unfortunately Honda Parts department didn't have one so I had to make due. And the kit has a lifetime warranty.

Oh yea, and the throwout bearing was not seized. When I pulled everything apart it still spun VERY FREELY. Not wobbling whatsoever. It really just needed to be cleaned. The clutch was crap, and the flywheel had a nice grove where you could tell the disk was. So I am not sure if it was the clutch itself that was making that noise or the transmission. Either way a new clutch is in there and I will put the axles back on tomorrow. I will keep you guys informed.

Oh and Chris I do not fail or fail to read. Just becaus my actual posting is low doesn't mean I am not on here like everyday learning from everyone else. I have modded my car more times than you can imagine. But the Army keeps me busy lately so I don't have the time to finish a lot of things.
