ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Sounds like you already figured out the problem

Easiest way would be to take the starter to your local auto store and have it tested. Should be free.

If when you turn the key to the start position, all you hear is a clicking noise from under the hood, chances are its the starter.

If you hear no clicking noise, and its a manual trans, it could be the clutch switch(located at the top of the clutch pedal arm)

If its an auto, it could be the nuetral safety switch.

if it cranks, and cranks, and cranks, but wont fire, it could either be spark or fuel related.

90% of the time if its fuel related, especially on the older Hondas like our CB's, its due to a main relay issue, and that should be replaced.

If you have no spark, its most likely going to be the ignitor or the coil causing the problem.

        Hope that helps.

In the futre, please be a BIT more specific, rather than, "I turn my key and my car wont start"

I put a new starter in today and it still wont work, I still have to push start it to get it running. This happened after I installed my OEM fog light harness. It was working fine till fog lights were installed the car only turned one once when we installed the harness when I went go put everything back in place it wouldn't start

you never stated if there was an alarm on this car.
the starter wires could have been cut for a starter kill on the alarm.

are you getting proper readings to the proper wires for the starter?

Have you checked your fuses or performed any voltage checks?

Make certain you are getting the proper amount of voltage to the starter. You should see around 12.6 at the connection. If you dont have power there as necessary, you either have a short, a bad battery, a blown fuse, or rediculously old/corroded battery cables.

without doing the above, you wont find the problem. period.

Could also be a bad starter cable. I had to replace them on 2 of the 3 CBs I've owned

The way to check this is to CAREFULLY run a jumper cable between the positive terminal on your battery and the cable terminal on the starter. If your car starts with this connection you need a new cable.
