ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Warped cam shaft?

    Warped cam shaft?

Soo I was taking apart my engine to get to the head gasket and I mis-read the manual and unbolted the cam shaft in reverse order :S (unbolted it in tightening order).

The head I did in correct order, but I'm worried I may have warped the cam shaft? Should I just purchase a new one anyways (even if it's not warped)? It has 160,000 miles on it.

PS: I'm 17 and I've never taken a mechanics class in my life, I know this is stupid to even attempt xD.

    unbolt the camshaft?

u mean the valve train/rocker assembly...

    ur ok

do u have a torque wrench?, its recommended,
cuz the head needs to be tightened n 3 stages,
and the valve train needs to b torque'd also

OK good haha. Yeah after I replace the head gasket and get the head re-surfaced I'll get one from lordco for $80 . It's finger tight, 29lbs, and 49 lbs right? Can't remember, have to check the manual

Yeah, the head is the part that's most likely to warp. The camshaft really shouldn't be in any danger. Definitely have a manual handy for torque specs and tightening/loosening order. Be sure you fully understand what you're doing before you pick up a tool... You're much less likely to have to learn a lesson the hard way if you do it like that!

If you're going to get a new camshaft, why not just upgrade? A Bisimoto Stage 1 is a bolt in deal... as is a Delta 260 or 272 (Bisi is a little pricier, but the better option)

Guess I won't need a new camshaft. I'll just get a mechanic to take off the intake manifold and timing belt/water pump, take off head, replace head gasket, place head back on, put new timing belt/water pump back on, bolt the intake manifold back on and I'll put everything else back on.

but yeah I picked up one of the manuals a while back for $6 xD
