ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    93 SE chokes and dies...

My bosses 93 SE got into a wreck a while back and was totaled because of an engine bay electrical fire..
    It has since been repaired.

    The question..
I did a full tune-up (plugs wires cap rotor fuel filter)

The car runs great but sometimes when you give the car gas it just puffs a big cloud of black smoke and sputters then dies... after it does this it takes forever to start...

Im thinking fuel issues... But idk... any help is appreciated
Car sat for 8 months but all fuel was drained and replaced after sitting

Replace the injector resistor box, and see if that fixes your problem. You might want to replace the o2 sensor with an NTK/NGK or Denso unit as well (don't use Bosch)

Pull the 02 sensor out and see if it is fouled. If it is white or looks burnt, it needs to be replaced. However, a faulty 02 sensor shouldnt give you starting issues. Mine was very fouled and only caused the car to hesitate under acceleration or highway cruising.

The only thing I can think of with the o2 sensor causing a starting issue would be that after the car has been running improperly for a while, the spark plugs may have gotten fouled. Possibly even damp from excess fuel. generally, if the o2 sensor reading is bad, the ECU will be safe and add extra fuel. More fuel is safer than less fuel... at least for a short time. It will eventually cause a harmful buildup.

Is your fuel filter clogged? Maybe these things are not related to the electrical issues but simply due o the age of the car!

The fuel filter was replaced before the car was started after the repairs.

Im thinking either the wiring for the injector box is bad or the box itself was damaged...

Check the ground wire on your thermostat housing. Took me a week to figure out that was why my car wouldnt run right.
