i just got a call from one of my buddy. i wanrd to hook up a front moint intercooler as a cold air intake. would it work as a intake system before i spent hour helping do it thank for your time

No need. If you want more cold air, get a cold air intake.

Really its better than where most people mount their CAI, except for the fact that the air filter would be very open to damage from rocks /dirt / bugs.
