ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

help need a write up adjusting cable

so my gas pedal and auto shifter have been acting up on me how can I adjust them to the proper lengths?

    #2
You just have to loosen the nuts that hold the throttle and trans cable to be able to adjust them. You should adjust it so that there is a very small amount of play before the throttle cable starts pull the throttle plate open, and also a very small amount of play before the trans cable gets pulled. You get better throttle response with almost no play on the throttle cable, just make sure it isn't pulling the throttle plate open.

No there is a certain sequence and measure ment you have take., The Throttle cable/automatic shifter and tranny kick down are all connected but the process is very precised and important. The car has to be free of vacuum leaks for this to work, then after the adjustment you can move th idling screw. I messed up and cant find the correct sequence to fix this. Some one please help.

i didnt follow any precise sequence.
i adjusted the throttle first so it responds the way i like it.
then i did a lot of trial and error on the trans cable till it shifted the way i like.

theres more to it than just the drivers preference of course, but i dont think an absolute certain sequence or procedure needs to be taken.

        i could be wrong.
        but my shit runs/shifts perfect.

so you think i should have the entire cable system loosened and work my way from the shifter to the throttle to the trans or o you thiink from the trans to the throttle to the shifter

Adjust the throttle first, to give you the throttle response you want, then you'll want to experiment with the downshift cable until it shifts down when you want it to. That's going to mean tweaking it, driving it, tweaking it, driving it until you have it right.
