ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Downpipe Combination

    hey guys
I wanna do the 2.25 downpipe upgrade on my 91 cb, looking for some performance, but I dont want a loud exhaust. I went to the mufflershop and they told me that the 2.25 downpipe with a dynomax exhaust and magnaflow catalytic (for fuel economy and performance) is a good combination for $300 bucks. I though about let the stock muffler and do the other but I don't know If the difference is so notable. Or just do the pipping (no cat). What you guys think it's better? (other ideas are welcome).

If you're looking at spending $300 for an exhaust, I'd recommend this:

A little bit more, but well worth it.

    2005 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71
    2015 Suzuki V-Strom 650

if you want to keep it quiet straight piping it is definitely not the way to go. My exhaust is 2.25 straight pipe and it's obnoxiously loud.

Definitely looks good, but the shipping and installation would make it a little pricey at the end of the day. Ill check if some local store work that system and the price, but the info is good.

Do you have the stock muffler with 2.25? If it's like that thanks for the info.

no it's not stock. I'm not sure what kind of muffler it is though, it came with the car.

Use a cat. Don't kill the environment for 1 horsepower... plus, it will smell bad and sound horrible.

Any section of your piping, including your muffler, that is smaller than the rest will create a bottleneck. A major restriction.

Get 2.25" piping, add the largest resonators you can fit. Get a good performance muffler, such as an Apexi World Sport 2 axleback (or just pick up the entire WS2 exhaust and forget about the custom piping)

Everything on the post makes sense. But do you think the dynomax muffler isn't good enough?
