ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Sub-assembly needs replaced!!!

I wanted to start off by saying yes I am new to the forum. I have been reading threads for some time now and finally needed to ask a question. To start I have a 1992 Honda Accord 2.2 auto EX with 127,000 miles.

I recently have had my check engine light go on at about 120,000 miles. So I went to the dealership to do a diagnostic test to tell me what the light was for. They diagnosed the problem to be the sub-assembly needs to be replaced. So I then asked around to see what that involved. From what i was told by a few people it was the distributor.

Well as it goes I replaced the distributor. Did everything the proper way. Well the light is still on and I am stumped.

    Please help!

dealerships will screw u depending on if there having a good day or not, ur best bet would be to retrieve the code yourself so u kno exactally what it is, ur pass right kick pannel u will find a blue plug, get a paper clip or any type of jumper and jump the connection turn your key to the on position and count your cel light and see how many it blinks. now you have ur # code. look in the fourms for that number code to figure out what it is. hope this helps good luck

Word of advise. Never accept a diagnosis from only one mechanic.

          1) Have your own diagnosis

2)Have a mate or a mechanic do a diagnosis (may confirm number 1 or provide additional possibilities)

          3) Ask another mate or mechanic or revisit the situation (with a fresh approach and mind to get a last and maybe majority vote of the likely problem).

If a mate says your pants doesnt go with your shirt and shoes would you accept the advise first go? You would be sceptical and will probably not... so same with cars...

My personal experience was constant loud scratching noises from my engine. Like loose tappets or valve train noise.

A mechanic whos advise i sought said its the dizzy bearings which was worn and about to go out. I should replace it asap otherwise it may seize.

So i was in a dilema there and then. In short I took my chance to keep driving it as i didnt have enough $$ as dizzies are not cheap and had another problem also.

I asked another mechanic (from the same shop) after getting the other unrelated problem fixed there the following week and he diagnosed it to be loose timing belt. On his own accord he loosened the belt, ran the engine to tighten it up, stopped the engine and tightened the bolt and replaced the plastic covers and plugs. Sure enough it became quiet and only 15-20 mins labour. He was kind and didnt charge me a thing.

Take the advise of mechanics with a grain of salt.
