ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Tachometer is not working

Hey guys. I recently bought a 90 lx with 95xxx on it. Love the car so far, this is my dd right now. The guy who I bought it from claimed it has a new clutch so i assume that who ever did the clutch job didn't connect the tach back on. I have searched and remember a lot of people said theres a plug with a blue wire but i couldn't find it anywhere. My tach doesn't work at all. Its not jumping up and down, it stays stopped. Is there a connection behind the instrument cluster?

it has nothing to do with the clutch job. If your ECU was not getting a RPM reading it would not start.

Is there a check engine light? If so check the blue wire from the distributor to the ECU. if there is no check engine light you need to check the connection from where the RPM signal splices into two... half to the ECU the other half to the cluster. If that checks good then your cluster is broken. If its bad you need to fix the wiring between the ecu/splice and the cluster. simple as that

No CEL here. Car starts and drive great. Anyways, i'd do what you've said again tom when there's day light. Hopefully its something small and i don't have to replace my cluster. I don't think i can find any used cluster with 95xxx around here or withn 10000 miles of my cluster.

Just get a used cluster and swap the tach out of it. U don't need the rest of it so u can keep ur cluster with ur mileage. Or u could get a used cluster and just roll back the mileage on it. Not too hard, done it many times.

verify the wiring before you jump to a cluster issue.
