ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Noobie with a question

Hey i'm looking forward to buying my first car and was wondering if a 92 accord with 131k is good for a daily driver?
The owner says he changed the oil every 3k miles and the car looks pretty legit.
I'm a little mechanicly inclined and was just wondering what should i be looking for when i go to check it out, other than taking a mechanic?

131k isnt really bad. Mine had 360xxx something when i sold it and it was good to go. I would look to make sure its stock. When other people start moding and playing with cars is when they start to fail. Pop the valve cover and check out that to see what it looks like.

So a 92 for 750 w/ 131K sounds like a decent deal to me. I first picked mine up back in like '98 One owner w/ 80k+ all highway I payed $2750. Only thing I can say is do your oil changes religiously and don't let your friends drive it. My motor blew at 150K+ from neglecting the oil(I was broke a lot) and from a dickhead friend reving it out. But other then the usual rust on the rear wheel arches I haven't had anything major and was glad to get it when I did.

For the age, that's considered pretty low mileage. Anything under 100k these days suggests that the car may have been left undriven for a lengthy period of time... which is worse than regular use and maintenance. Don't trust the oil change interval claim unless the owner is the original owner, and can provide proof. If you want, do a compression and leakdown test on the motor to see how healthy it is. Still, these cars put up with a fair amount of neglect before they let go.

These cars are very strong mechanically. Their biggest issue, especially hear in the NorthEast, is rust in the rear quarter panel area. That can cause some serious issues if left unchecked.

Or they may have rolled the mileage back. But seriously a car with them miles and for $750 I would buy all day long, assuming the body and interior was in decent condition also.

Rolled the mileage, swapped the cluster... or maybe it actually WAS driven daily by a little old man to and from church since 1992 (my friend's car had 64k on it, legit, and the car was in GREAT shape, other than a smokestained interior... old-man owned. I pried it out of his cold, dead fingers for my friend )

Mine has 265k on the stock engine. Stock tranny as well and she runs great. Honda FTW
