ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

eletrical current runing threw throttle cable

    edit:
i tightened the negative terminal and that helped out. I followed thr ground wire to thr tranny and the wire was really corroded there and exposed. What can i do now?

Ok my car started having major eletrical problems recently. headlights get dim, radio cut off, hitting the open/close lock or the window up/down switch would dim the headlights or cut the radio or for a few seconds. also when steping on the brake it happens. also a few times a light smoke came from uder the steerig wheel. i just realized the smoke was the plastic around the throttle cable melting and holding it in place and unable to drive. this must have happened twice to the old one and new one.

Also i looked and saw that where the cable connects to the pedal. it was sparking. i couldnt figure out why this was happening. this explains the smoke. i took the new cable off and saw the plastic has melted by the pedal ad stop the cable from being able to move freely. i need to solve this problem before i replace it a 3rd time. also sorry for the way i posted but im on my phone.

your not running a power wire for an amp through the same grommet as your throttle cable are you? Just curious, it's the first possible issue that came to mind. our throttle cable should never do that unless something carrying current next to it shorts out and grounds through it.

        x2 on this/\/\
and theres the power wires from the radio/cig lighter could be grounded to the shifter witch is the frame.i would say check the back of the lighter cause that wire shorted out on me and grounded itself to the frame from changeing the stock radio.

No power cable for an amp running through it. it must be another power line shorting out near it. i check again tomorrow. what and where should i be looking because i glanced at it and didnt notice anything. it has to be something down there shortingout onto the cable.

reconnect the ground wire going to the motor
it got disconected, so the only thing thats grounding its the batt
since electricity chooses the path of less resistance, with no ground from the batt to the motor, the runner up is the throttle cable

Checked the battery ground today. it was actually loose enough that i could pull it off the batery. i tightened it and then started the car with all the lights and radio on. te head lights was bright and none of the eletronics was shorting out. everything seems good. im putting in another throttle cable in tomorrow. i just wanted to make sure i stop the shorting so i wont melt a third throttle cable. thanks everyone for the help
