ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Strange?

Ok my brakes failed on the freeway last night(on the way to get them fixed.. How ironic?) and I get it back from the shop around 4pm and I start to drive it and I notice this brake burnin smell. I pull over and it seems to go away.

Skip ahead to around 9pm. Im in Argo driving a little bit spiritedly and I smell the most horrible smell iv ever smelled coming from a car, I start to pull over and the oil light starts blinking so I turn the motor off check the oil and sure enough it isnt even registering any oil. I refill it and the smell goes away until I get home and its even worse? No light though?

Any ideas? Smells a little bit like burning oil. Kinda

Are you asking for help on the brake issue, the fact that your engine has no oil in it, or the smell?

If you ask a question you'll get an answer, Statements don't really have the same effect.

Based on that I'll try and answer the potential questions I can see.

      1) Brakes -
      The master cylinder started bypassing
A brake hose split and leaked all your brake fluid out.
All 4 calipers seized at the same time.
The brake booster developed a leak.

      2) Engine has no oil -
      There is an oil leak.
      The engine is burning oil.
Its well over due for a service.

      3) Smell -
      The clutch is slipping.
      The brakes are dragging.
The exhaust has a plastic bag stuck to it.
      Coolant is leaking from somewhere.

Car Safety / General Servicing Checks --------Basic suspension checks

      My 5.7 LS1 Holden Ute

A "Finished" project car is never finished until its been sold.

If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.

Thanks! I do have a coolant leak. Il fix that when it stops raining and il look under my car to see if theres a bag stuck to it.

Its WELL over due for service(shouda happened in june of last year). Its leaking oil from the valve seals and burning it. Major surgery required to fix that though lol.

Replacing the valve seals is a fairly accessible and (somewhat) easy fix actually.

Fix your current problems before you start trying to diagnose other issues.
