ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Axle ?!!

Does anyone know where you can get the inner shaft of the axle from. I have replaced both of my axles and it still clicks. So I was thinking it was the inner one maybe.

is both sides still clicking? or just the driver side

The intermediate shaft has no CV joint. It will not click.

If you're still clicking, try pushing your axles in further. If the ring at the end doesn't clip into place, it's still possible to put everything back together, but it won't be right (and you'll notice funny sounds and vibrations).

That, or get a refund and buy axles from somewhere else. I assume you did what most of us do, and got remanufactured axles. Sometimes they're just not right. The best reman I ever got was from NAPA. It lasted about 6 years. I actually only replaced it because I removed it to do my clutch, and I ended up separating the joint, and was unable to get it back into place.

Is it a barely noticable clicking noise on the passenger side? I've had one since I bought the car, and have replaced both shafts. It never gets worse, and it's only noticeable below 5 or 10 mph. Have you put the front of the car up on stands and rotated everything by hand to determine where the noise is coming from?

I bought both the axles new from auto parts warehouse. I will have to check and see if they are all the way in cuz I do have a vibration when I accel. I really can't tell which side is clicking.

if you're getting vibrations it could be your wheel bearing also.

How can i tell if i have a bad axle. I don't want to assume that it is bad and then replace it and it still click. if I do what is a good place to buy really good axles from.

I bought mine locally from a place called BAP import parts. You probably don't have that shop where you live, since its a AZ only chain. But the axle I bought was an EMPI axle. The boots are made really well and it comes brand new, its not a remanufactured unit. So there isn't a worry about reusing parts that are potentially worn or faulty. Try to see if anyone in your area sells these axles. I've never had to go back w/ issues.

My D/S axle is new since Aug' 09 when I did my 5spd conversion and my P/S axle is a lot older, prob. has 50k miles at least on it and the boots and joints are still holding up fine.

Does it click on full lock or at any angle?
Take the axles out and rotate them (at an angle) by hand to see if they feel loose or rough.
If the axle is in too far it the CV it will feel notchy when rotating them.

Btw Honda sells good CV Joints.
