ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    F20A Tranny

Well I got a JDM F20 FOR $180 since my H22 trans died on me.

My qustion is what TCU should I use? I had the F22 TCU on while they swapped in the trans and when they was done the D4 light was blinking. I started to drive and the trans was doing the same thing the H22 did. so I swapped in the H22 TCU and the singal was gone and the car was shifting without any issues. with this TCU it still hits at WOT 7k and it feels like the H22 trans but im scared I might kill this one with this TCU

this is my 3rd trans and if this goes again I might put her to sleep

What motor is the f20a tranny mated too? All the tcu does is control when the car shifts, so it has its own predetermined shift points, meant for the motor you have in it.

So if the motor your running is an h22, i'd stick with the h22 tcu, because if you used an f22ax tcu it wouldn't go past 6200rpms before shifting, and it would miss the top of your power band, and when it downshifts puts you out of the powerband.

If you had a f22ax with say a bisimoto lvl2 cam that makes power up to 6.5-7k, i'd still use the h22 tcu.

If you have a stock f22ax i'd use a f22ax tcu because even the a6 cam reaches peak power as early as 5600 rpms, and continue making the same amount of power all the way to 6200rpms (as you wave bye bye to your torque).

        Thank for the reply

I have a JDM F22B DOHC and was running it with a H22 trans with H22 TCU its all stock with stock cams. just don't want this trans to die on me. I didn't put the other TCU back since it gave me the D4 codes. im gonna put the f22a TCU and see what it does @ WOT since it does hit the 7k with the H22 ecu but does over rev a little at 7k . does the TCU control the were it revs at? also I have a P39 Ecu non-chipped

The tcu controls the torque converter, which would explain the "over revving". The tcu is programmed to shift based upon certain information the ecu delivers to it. At partial throttle (and depending upon load) it will shift sooner, then at WOT for example. The auto trans should be able to handle the revs, but do you really need to rev all the way to 7k? According to Wikipedia the f22b makes peak power at 6k, so the f22ax tcu would probably be better suited for that particular motor. Ideally you would want to get the tcu that belongs with the F22B, as it probably shifts a little bit higher then the f22ax.

so your saying I should get a F22B TCU ? or just use the F22 TCU? the trans came of a F20A is that diffrent than the f22ax?

I don't have much information available on the F20a trans, and yes i'm saying you should get the f22b tcu, but you could (without problems) use a f22ax tcu (dime a dozen) if in the event you are unable to find a f22b tcu (as they are pretty rare at least here in the US)
