ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    clutch problem

ok so the cb7 i have is my first 5spd (yay!) lol but in all seriousness, im a noob at driving a standard. so i have a couple questions regarding the clutch. is it normal for the clutch to grab so high? and when i try to floor the car, it seems like the clutch "slips" if u wana call it that. i try to accelerate hard but it just revs high and im going the same speed, if anything im slowly gaining speed. clutch? or flywheel problem? other than that, i can drive fine without stalling now.

"so high" isn't exactly something that anyone but you can measure, so we don't know if that's the proper engagement point or not. You can adjust the engagement point.

If you are completely off the clutch pedal and the engine revs, but doesn't move the car (and it is in gear)... then yes, your clutch is slipping. Badly. Allowing it to slip will ruin it further, until it doesn't work at all. It would be smart to replace it before you find yourself unable to move in the middle of an intersection.

thanx deev. but it seems like the clutch is very worn for a car with only 128k. maybe the previous owner was a bad driver and let the clutch slip constantly? idk i only had the car for a month or so.

It all depends on how it was driven. 130k can easily kill a clutch if it wasn't used properly. My H22's clutch had less mileage on it, and it was down to the rivets!

Regardless of what the reason is, if it's worn, it's done.

x2. It depends. If a granny has your accord, and never revs past 3k rpm and sells it to you because she can't drive standard anymore, the clutch would probably be in better shape than if you bought the car from some 16 year old who does burnouts and attempts to double clutch everywhere, and who doesn't know how to drive...

I bought my old civic from an older couple, it had 180k on the stock clutch, and flywheel. I don't beat on my cars ever, so I went another 20k before deciding to replace it. It probably could've gone a little longer, not long. It was starting to get worn by that time.

There's so many variables, it's hard to know. If the clutch is letting out "high" it is still vague as to why this is usually, because without it functioning properly it's hard to know where the point it normally lets out, is. I assume you haven't attempted to adjust it yet?
If your revving and not going any faster whilst in gear, then yes, it's slipping a bit.

          life is good.
