ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Rear Strut lower mount question

Hello. I purchased some Monroe Quick Struts to install on my Accord. The lower portion of the rear Monroe struts do not have a nut welded on them like my current struts do. Does anyone know what type of nut I can buy to mount these rear struts to the original lower bolt (thread size, grade, flange nut or regular, self locking, coarse/fine thread etc.)? I will contact Monroe to see if they have the proper nut, since they didn't supply the correct nut in the box with these struts.

    Thanks.

All you do is take your original bolt down to Ace hardware or whatever hardware store and have them give you a nut that fits it. I had to do the same thing with mine. I used a automotive grade flange nut, can't remember if it was locking or not, probably couldn't hurt to get a locking one tho. U could also use a normal nut and a washer (locking or not). Actually I replaced my original bolt with a slightly longer one too.

Thanks. I was able to find a 10mm locking nut, but I would like to see if I can find a flange nut before I take everything apart again. I hope that the threads on the original bolt aren't fine thread, cause I had trouble finding a fine thread nut. I'll find out for sure once I take it apart again. I'll probably end up disconnecting the rear struts off again anyway since I want to replace the lower strut mount bushings in the future.

FYI for anyone else who needs this info - the lower bolt for the rear strut is a 10mm x 1.25 bolt, which is fine thread. Most of the bolts on this car seem to be 1.25, or fine thread.

I ended up using a spare flange nut that was for the top strut mount bolt, since it was the correct size and thread.
