ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Remove Head with Intake Manifold

Can I remove head with intake manifold together?

I don't know how to get to the bolts on the underside of the intake manifold to head

    #2
yes you can take off the head and leave the mani on

to get to the ones on the underside just jack the car up and put it on jack stands and go underneath

    ''WAGON''

You can also just get a long extension and reach your hand under it. I have done it many times its pretty easy after you get the first few.

it`s much better to take off the intake first..there is a bracket from the back side of the motor ,you have to remove a bolt out of it.. and part of the cooling where the thermostat is if you remove it you can get at the bolt that go from the intake to the head ..i just think it would be better to take it off first

In the end, it'll be much easier to remove the IM first, separating it from head.

            life is good.

at the shop every time we pull a head we leave the I'm attached it's makes life easy cuz most cars come with a bracket that attaches the I'm to the block just remove the bolt from 1 side or the other and the whole unit comes out easy in my experience it's easier to leave it on

Are you pulling the head JUST to remove the intake manifold? If so, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

If you pull the head, you had better be prepared to replace the timing belt, water pump, and head gasket.

dee is right if ur just tryin to pull the IM then it isn't to smart to pull the head ur best bet in that case if you don't want to get underneath the car is use a long extension and reach under the IM to remove the nuts

The last time I did it I went in from the top with a ratchet and extension. Most of the time when people ask this question the consensus seems to be to do it from the bottom though. I've only done it once and from the top it wasn't too bad but alot of it you're doing somewhat blind. You could probably see better from the bottom. What exactly are you doing to your motor?

And I think he means removing the head in general, with the IM still attached.
