I read somewhere there's a special socket you have to use to remove the 02 sensor. Is this true?

yes and no... special sockets are out there... basically a 22mm deep socket w/ a slot in the side for the wires... most of the time, just a simple 22mm or 7/8in wrench will do the job... spraying a little penetrating lube on the sensor about an hour before u remove it will help greatly as well...

What O2 conversion are you referring to? I need to think about replacing mine also and I don't want to spend too much if I can help it. I just got this car (1991 SE) with 300,000 on it and I don't know if it's orig or not

which model do you have?

i actually have a bosch universal and been running it for 5 years. couple months ago ive developed a hesistation issue from a cold start. i need to change it or test it at least.

i still do not understand where people are getting the whole 'bosch sensors need wiring adjustments' from... the one i bought from autozone (it was last minute and all they had) clipped right into my original connector and has worked just fine since. i'm not defending the brand, i hate their stuff too but i just don't know where people keep hearing this.

Bosch sensors are not wired correctly for our cars. There is (or at least was) a set of instructions on the Bosch website, showing you how to alter the sensor to work properly for our cars. THAT is where "people" are getting this.

Yes, responding to the person that quoted above me, repeating what I had said before him... because he obviously felt the need to say "It worked fine for me!"... Yes, he is one of the rare few that it worked for. That, or he doesn't know how to tell when his car isn't running properly (maybe he thinks 20mpg is good? )

I'm confused... are you saying that few people have had bad luck with Bosch BEFORE or AFTER the alteration procedure. Does it even matter though... I mean do you still recommend I go with NTK or Denso?

cool, thanks. To save some cash I'm just gonna pull the good 02 sensor from my parts car and put it in mine.

Honda wants $250 for an 02 sensor. WTF!

Well anybody have part numbers for Denso offhand? Denso's website doesn't give a part number for our cars... which I find hard to believe since there are so many of them still alive. NGK only lists a universal (part number 29415) but I'm looking to plug and play. My original is an NGK. 1991 SE
