ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Gas Guage..?

    Gas Guage..?

Ok well my gas gauge is annoying it works great until it hits 1/2 tank and then it goes to a 1/4 or E in like 15 miles...

And when at 1/4 of a tank (240 miles since fill up)

The car took 10 gallons and the pump shut off..

So what can i do to make it more accurate?

Also what makes the fuel light work?

there is a foam float in your gastank, and depending on the amount of gasoline in the tank, it will 'float' at a certain position in the tank, which gives the gas gauge its reading of how much petrol you have in your tank at any given time. My guess is maybe that float and the system pertaining to it is wearing out?

i would recommend that you get a one or two gallon fuel tank fill it up and just run out of gas on purpose see how low the gauge goes and if the light actually works

when the fuel sending unit goes bad, it makes the fuel gauge inaccurate. later.

yes. it's under the backseat. you use an ohmmeter to test it. i'd get a haynes manual for the step by step. later.

yep right behind the back seat takes like 1 minute to take it out i would check it u can move it to see if the fuel needle move and see if the fuel light comes on

Running a car completely dry is not a good thing.

that is true b/c the fuel is used to cool the pump as it runs through it.if you leave the key in the on position after you run out of fuel then it will cause premature wear on your pump.if you turn your key off right away then it shouldn't be any harm.

but there might be something i don't know that you can enlighten me about. there is always a lot more that we can learn about these cars.
