Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    -Cleaning

        New air filter and spark plugs.

        Oil change wouldn't hurt.

        Fuel injector cleaner.

            Having your ride at it's peak oem performance will definitely get you the gas mileage.

            1. complete ignition tune up. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor.

            2. Fuel filter, and clean non restrictive air filter

            3. the correct oil and a new filter

            If you have any vacuum leaks, these are fuel eaters! Fix them! such as, broken vacuum lines, intake manifold gasket, a worn/old or bad map sensor!

            Definitely keep your coolant temps sensors in prime condition! IF they dont see operating temp they wont go into adaptive or closed loop.

            Low coolant needs to be topped off!

            Keep your valves adjusted right! Make sure your timing belt is in time! a stretching old belt will also start to eat at gas mileage.

            Good tires, tire pressure, and good tire alignment is very crucial to mpg.

              Definitely need to add...

              good switching o2 sensors,

              non restricting exhaust, a failed cat or partially plugged catalytic converter will cause the engine to work harder to expel the exhaust.

              Weak coils will also lower mpg. if you see any carbon tracking inside the dizzy when you change the cap and rotor. you might want to look into a new coil.


              also, use the recommend fuel grade. Some people believe that if 87 works good, then 92 will really wake it up. Not so. higher octane ratings slow the burn time down to prevent predetonation. if your car recommends using 87 use, that's the fuel grade the honda engineers found to get the best performance and mpg. Older cars will sometimes be picky and need to have a higher octane gas due to the raised, though minimally, compression due to carbon build up on the pistons. you'll have to play around with a tank or two to see if switching gas grades will fix a slight miss, or make it worse.

                02 sensor is one if the most commin things that kills gas milage, get that replace and yall shall see gas improvements

                    Your own driving habits play a HUGE part in it as well. A heavy foot can cost you 5mpg or more. Drive between 2k and 3k RPM. I always shift at 3 when I'm being conservative.

                    Also, if you have a lot of heavy shit in your car... get rid of it. I'm a musician, and I would often carry my equipment around in my back seat. 150-200lbs, usually. That extra weight made a noticeable difference in my gas mileage.

                      Follow a Hummer H2, those things are like bricks...let them take up all the aero drag lol

                      or option 2:
                      -get a lip (helps divert air away from chassis underside)
                      -skinnier tires (less aero drag)
                      -lower you car (less aero drag)
                      -use synthetic oil (less friction in engine and more power too)
                      -dont use A/C when you can
                      -close all windows when going over 45-50mph

                        I tried it in the Fit. I couldn't get it to pull me along enough. Either the Fit is too aerodynamic, or I wasn't close enough.

                          air pump ... more air in more exhaust out .. i look at it that way... also stock tires not wide ones ..less friction

                            Mythbusters confirmed (I believe). You just have to be really, really close. Which is dangerously stupid I might add.
